Townley, Alabama – January 20, 2025 – Global Technical Systems (GTS), a recognized leader in advanced defense technology, is pleased to announce that its affiliate, Defense Munitions Proving Ground (DMPG), has acquired an additional 700 acres in Walker County, Alabama, expanding DMPG’s footprint to over 2,700 acres. This significant expansion reflects GTS’s unwavering commitment to innovation and its dedication to driving economic development in the region.
Building on this momentum, GTS is making a substantial investment in the construction of a 15,000-square-foot state-of-the-art test facility at DMPG. This multimillion-dollar project will create a cutting-edge environment for conducting advanced munitions and explosive testing, further solidifying DMPG’s role as a premier hub for defense innovation.
The new facility is expected to create approximately 20 new jobs, ranging from highly skilled technical positions to operational roles, further contributing to the local economy and supporting the community’s workforce. In addition, other small companies in the Walker County community have already been engaged and are being put to work in the support of test range activities and infrastructure.
